Theology In Music

One Fan's Search For God In Music

About

Music has been a passion of mine my entire life. In the past several years, I’ve also developed a thirst for theology and apologetics. Recently I started to see where these two areas come together. If God exists, he created everything, including music.

We can often learn a lot about an artist by examining their artwork. We can learn a lot about an architect by the things he or she designs. Can we do the same to learn about God by examining music itself? Not just the lyrics, but the nature and elements of music. Can we learn about God’s attributes by examining his handiwork? Can we even use it as an argument to show that he exists?

Or is music just noise that we – an accidental mutation living on an insignificant rock spinning around an insignificant star – put order to and call it “expression”?

I’m curious to find out. And, I hope you are, too.
